The SUpernaturals - Bass Guitars
Pick one up - your hands will tell you it's
hand made.
The moment you get your hands on one of our
custom built basses, you'll know you've got hold of an instrument
far removed from run of the mill mass produced basses. Play
it and you'll realise why the 'Supernaturals' are the natural
choice of players like Mark King of Level 42 and George Anderson
of Shakatak. Whatever your style, you'll get more out of a
Supernatural, for the very good reason that we put more into
it.
The pickups, for instance, were designed only
after careful research. They're housed in cases of polished
Ebony, Maple and Rosewood - no poles, no screws, no metal
parts. And, consequently, no extraneous noise from strings
hitting the pickup. The design is unique to Jaydee, the makers
of Supernatural basses - they're not sold separately and they're
the heart of the Supernatural's incredible sound.
The bridge system Is also unique. It's carved
from solid 'bell quality' brass, seated on a separate solid
brass sustain block.
Every model is built around a backbone of
Brazilian Mahogany. Up to twenty eight separate pieces of
hand.selected wood are laminated to this to give immense strength
and rigidity, and to enhance sustain and eliminate dead spots.
(Other timbers used may include Brazilian Walnut, Black American
Walnut, Birds Eye Maple, Rosewood, Ebony and Rose Zebrano
each and every piece is carefully checked - only perfect wood
is used)
There are five Supernatural models which,
between them, cover most needs and playing styles. But we're
happy to adapt the designs to suit individual performers.
You can specify active electronics, 22 or 24 fret necks (bound
or unbound), fretted or fretless, long or short scale in 4,
5 and 8 - string configurations. And if one of the eight magnificent
'standard' colours doesn't suit you, you can order one that
does.
The glued neck and body system, which is an
important part of the design, uses a massive 17 square inches
of mating surface to provide an indestructible bond. The body
is then carved into a smooth, flowing, 'straight through the
neck' line.
Custom-built means custom-built.
The only part of a Supernatural Bass Guitar which
we don't make ourselves is the Schaller tuning gears. (We
reckon they can't be improved upon). Everything else is to
our own design - even on our most modestly
priced model, the Roadie.
Obviously, no website can give you the remotest
idea of what it feels like to play an instrument as lovingly
built and as knowledgeably designed as a Supernatural bass.
There's only one answer, get your hands on one!
We also build a fine range of six string guitars
- the Hooligans. If you're
a six string player as well, see one - and you'll want one!
